• Ask About a Position (FEN) — Set up or paste any position on the board and ask the AI to analyse it. Great for studying specific positions from your games or textbooks.

• Move Analysis (PGN) — Make moves on the board and the AI explains each one in real time. You can also import a full PGN game and step through it for commentary.

• Play Against AI (GPT) — Play a game directly against an AI opponent. The AI picks its move and you can ask why it played that way.

How do I analyse a specific position?

Select the "Ask about a Position" mode. The board becomes editable — you can drag pieces to set up your position, or paste a FEN string directly. Once the position is set, type your question (e.g. "What is the best move here?" or "Why is white winning?") and send it.

Switch to "Analysis of moves made on the Board" mode. Use the board controls to paste your PGN, then step through the moves. Each move you make triggers an AI explanation of that move in context.

MyChessGPT excels at explaining *why* moves are good or bad in plain language.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account from your profile settings page. Deleting your account permanently removes all your data — chats, messages, and profile information — within 30 days.

Is my chess data and chat history private?

Yes. Your chats are private by default and only visible to you. The only exception is chats you explicitly share using the Share feature, which creates a public link. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Are my messages sent to third-party AI providers?

Yes — when you send a message, it is forwarded to the AI provider you have selected (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) to generate a response. Each provider processes this under their own privacy policy. We only send the minimum necessary context (your message and recent conversation history).

Can I use MyChessGPT to cheat in online chess games?

No. Using MyChessGPT to obtain move suggestions during a rated or competitive game on external platforms (Lichess, Chess.com, etc.) violates their fair play rules and the spirit of chess. MyChessGPT is designed for learning and practice — please use it that way.

The AI response seems wrong. What should I do?

AI models can make mistakes, especially for complex tactical positions. If a response seems off, try rephrasing your question, switching to a different (stronger) model, or verifying the position analysis with a dedicated chess engine. You can also edit the response to add a correction.
